The 100th Day is just around the corner… and for our youngest learners, it’s almost impossible for them to believe that they have already been in school for that long! Completing 100 days of anything is definitely worth celebrating! To celebrate with you, I am sharing 25 of my favorite picture books for the 100th Day of School!

Jessica is a worrier, and when it comes to choosing 100 of something to bring to school for the 100th day, she worries about how to make a decision! This is just one of the picture books for the 100th Day of school that works in counting and addition!

The beloved Miss Kindergarten celebrates 100 days of school with her class in this sweet story! I love reading this series with my kindergarteners, and this book is no exception!


Miss Mingo and the 100th Day of School

Another great series is the Miss Mingo, the Flamingo books! Miss Mingo has a great day planned for her class on the 100th day of school, and your students will love hearing about it!


Centipede’s 100 Shoes

If a Centipede has 100 legs and feet, then he of course needs 100 shoes! This funny book will make your math lesson on the 100th day extra engaging! You can have great discussions about how to group numbers in order to get to 100!


100 Snowmen

Because the 100th day so often falls in the middle of winter time, I love 100 Snowmen for this time of year!


Chicka Chicka 123

This book doesn’t seem like a 100th Day book on the surface, but when Zero the Hero discovers that he makes the number 10 ten times bigger by standing on the end, you see that this book is a great way to reinforce place value and counting conversations!


100 Hundred Hungry Ants

This is one of the classic picture books for the 100th Day of school that just never gets old! The ants are hungry and going to a picnic, and there’s a lot of math to do along the way!


I’ll Teach My Dog 100 Words

This book could be the perfect introduction to a creative writing assignment on the 100th day. After reading, students could create their own story about what words they would teach their own pets!


Biscuit’s 100th Day of School

I just love Biscuit the Dog. This is a sweet book to add to your library for students to read on their own. The text is accessible, and the familiar character makes this story extra fun!


Planet Kindergarten: 100 Days in Orbit

This book is cute and has bright illustrations! But best of all, it could be used as a cross-curricular science lesson! Read the book, and then review anything you’ve learned that year about space or our planet.


Emily’s First 100 Days of School

Emily learns how to count to 100 in a variety of different ways, which makes for a great number talk on your 100th day!


Henry’s 100 Days of Kindergarten

Henry and his class have earned 100 jellybeans by the 100th day of school, and their teacher promised a big party! What will the party be?

This book explores several different ways to group things by 100, and how 100 is seen in our daily lives!


100 School Days

Another great math book that features grouping things by 10 to get to 100. This is a great book to reinforce skip counting!


100 Hats of Cat in the Hat

A recognizable character like Cat in the Hat makes reading even more fun, especially when you think about him doing something as funny as wearing 100 hats!


Tiny and the 100th Day of School

A great book for students to borrow and browse. Tiny helps Eliot with his 100th day of school project.


Curious George Learns to Count from 1 to 100

Another classic character in a fun math-themed book! Your students will love counting along with Curious George!


Hundredth Day Disaster

This adorable, rhyming book imagines what would happen if the teacher mixed up the calendar and missed the 100th day! How will the students fix this disaster?
