Beach Day at school is one of the most exciting end of the year countdown activities, especially with summer break just around the corner! It’s the perfect way to splash into summer while keeping students engaged and learning until the very last day. As you plan your end of the year activities, beach books are the perfect way to set the tone before the towels, sunglasses, and beach-themed centers come out. Beach stories naturally spark excitement, curiosity, and connection — whether students are diving into a silly seaside adventure or learning fascinating facts about ocean animals. In this post, I’m sharing a mix of fiction and nonfiction beach books for kids that pair perfectly with a classroom Beach Day and help keep learning meaningful and engaging right up until the last day of school!

End of the Year Beach Day
After reading many of the fiction and nonfiction beach books from the list below, it’s the perfect time to turn that excitement into a memorable classroom experience.
Hosting a Beach Day is a simple way to celebrate the end of the year, while still keeping students engaged, learning, and working together.
With “The Case of the Beach Bandit,” students complete 6 or 8 different beach-themed challenges to eliminate suspects and uncover who stole the missing beach bag!
This beach mystery fits seamlessly into a Beach Day theme and gives students plenty of opportunities to collaborate, problem-solve, and stay focused—all while having fun. This collection of beach centers is a great option if you want your Beach Day to feel special without completely throwing out structure.
Teacher tip: If the mystery feels like too much, you can absolutely skip it and use the activities as stand-alone beach-themed centers instead. They’re just as engaging and still make for a fun, low-stress Beach Day in the classroom.
