12 Easy-to-Prep Thanksgiving Centers for Kindergarten

In November, I love adding Thanksgiving-themed centers to our center rotations… it’s the perfect way to serve up a little seasonal fun in the classroom! With the excitement of Thanksgiving break just around the corner, a touch of festive flair goes a long way in keeping students engaged and motivated. These easy-to-prep Thanksgiving centers for kindergarten make it simple to reinforce important math and literacy skills, all while keeping things playful and fun!
Math Thanksgiving Centers for Kindergarten
These versatile Thanksgiving math centers aren’t just great for centers, they’re also ideal as morning tubs or can be used as early finisher activities.
Each center activity includes kid-friendly “I Can” cards and printable response sheets to foster independence and make differentiation effortless.

Dinner Graphing
Students will spin the spinner to determine which Thanksgiving food item to place on the graph. They will continue to spin until one of the food item columns reaches the top of the graph.
Dinner Table Addition
For this center, students will be adding within five. First, they will say the equation and then model it on the five frames using small manipulatives, such as brown pom poms, linking cubes, etc.
Turkey Trot Numbers
At this center, students will count on from a given number on the ten included turkey mats. Each turkey mat has a starting number and two empty boxes for students to place the missing turkey numbers.
Ordering the Harvest
For this center, the students will order the numbers 0-20 by placing the missing corn cobs on the mats.
Gobbling Up Shapes
At this center, students will compose eight 2D shapes by matching two turkey pieces together to complete the shape.
Harvesting Numbers
For this center, students will show three different representations of each number 1-10, including ten frame, finger count and tally marks, on the cornucopia.

Turkey Tracing
The students will help the turkey complete his work by tracing the uppercase and lowercase letters.
Harvesting Sight Words
In this centers, the students will practice sight word recognition by building 12 sight words. As an alternative to the lettered pumpkins, the students could also use magnetic letters to build each word.
Wishbone Matching
With a clothespin, the students will identify the lowercase letter that matches the uppercase letter shown on the card. If you don’t have clothespins, students can use a dry erase marker or place a pom pom on the correct lowercase letter.
Cooking Up Word Families
At this center, students will sort ten CVC words based on their word family by matching two turkeys to the correct word family oven.
Turkey Feather Vowels
In this center, students will build each turkey by adding the feathers that have the same vowel sound as the turkey.
Serving Up CVC Words
For this center, students will segment and build twenty CVC words by placing pumpkin pie letters onto the mat in the correct order.
