Who stole the Easter eggs? Was it the Easter Bunny? Discover the egg-snatching culprit in The Case of The Lost Eggs Easter Escape Room! Keep your kindergarten students engaged with these exciting Easter activities that involve reviewing crucial math and literacy skills. Through a series of up to eight challenges, students will eliminate suspects and unveil the identity of the egg thief!

Easter Escape Room

In order to boost engagement and get the students excited about the different Easter centers, I like to set the stage with a note.

The eggs are gone!

Where could the be?

Someone sneaky,

Took them from me!

He wore a disguise,

Kind of funny.

It had to be,

The Easter Bunny!

Follow the trail.

Search high and low.

Catch the bunny.

Don’t let him go!

Once the stage is set, it is time for the detectives to assemble their case files. This can be done with a file folder, or by simply folding a piece of construction paper in half.

The students will use these case files to store all their finished Easter activities and the suspect elimination sheet.

Easter Activities Set Up

Preparing these Easter activities require minimal prep!

Start by arranging the challenges, either placing them in a manila envelope or using a basket or tub. Personally, I opt for a large envelope as it enhances the authenticity of their detective work.

If you want to eliminate the mystery element or don’t have manila envelopes, baskets, or tubs, you can still complete the Easter activities as standard kindergarten centers!

The students will face six or eight distinct challenges to unravel The Case of the Lost Eggs!

Upon finishing a math or literacy center, students will be granted a clue by the guilty suspect.

Based on the clue, a suspect will be eliminated.

Once the students complete all eight challenges, the identity of the egg thief will be revealed and the case will be solved!

Easter Activities for Literacy

There are four literacy center activities included.  Students will practice CVC words, syllables, digraphs, and beginning blends.

Here is a more in depth look at each literacy center:

At the “Basket Challenge,” the students will stretch out each CVC word and arrange the lettered eggs in the correct order to build the word.

Once they arrive at the “Chick Challenge,” the students will sort the pictures by the number of syllables.

As the students hop on over to the “Bunny Challenge,” they will need to decode each word and find the matching picture.

At the final literacy centers, the “Lamb Challenge,” the students will sort the pictures by beginning blend.

Easter Activities for Math

The Easter math activities are just as much fun as the literacy activities! At the math centers, the students will practice subtracting from 5, decomposing 10, extending patterns, and ordering numbers.

Here is a peek at all four math centers:

The students will order the numbers from 1-30, at the “Egg Challenge.”

At the “Jelly Bean Challenge,” the students will extend each pattern.

When they arrive at the “Dye Challenge,” they will match the number sentence to the correct ten frame.

At the final math center, the “Carrot Challenge,” the students will read the equation, cover the correct number of carrots, and find the difference.
