Parent Teacher Conferences Parent Pride Shout Out
Share this Post
Parent teacher conferences are among us! For some, parent teacher conferences are held only once a year. Whereas in other districts, conferences occur during both the fall and spring. No matter how many times conferences are scheduled in your school district, I have always found them to be so beneficial for both parents and the teacher.
Parent-teacher conferences offer a unique opportunity for us to build a strong relationship with parents and establish a partnership for student success. It’s a great time for us to sit down with parents and discuss their child’s progress, strengths, and challenges. During parent teacher conferences, I like to have parents or guardians fill out a little “parent pride” note. You can grab this printable for FREE at the end of this post.
Parent Teacher Conferences Parent Pride
Conferences can feel overwhelming for parents, especially as they wait to meet with their child’s teacher. I have found having a quick activity in the hall as they wait to be extremely helpful in easing those nerves.
In the hallway, I set up a table with these “Parent Pride Shout Out” notes, along with a bucket of writing materials and a bin for the completed notes.
At the end of week, I’ll read these to the kiddos. Their faces are absolutely priceless! They love hearing what their parents/guardians have to say about them! Many students save these notes in their book boxes, cubbies, or desks to reread throughout the year.
If for some reason one of the kiddos doesn’t have a note, I go ahead and jot them a message of why I am so proud of them.

More Ideas for Parent Teacher Conferences
Looking for a fun way to highlight students progress during conferences? This Reach for the Stars resource is one of my favorite ways to showcase student goals, data, and progress with parents. Students take ownership of their learning throughout the year, as they set goals and reflect on each goal.
With over 18 goal areas, including letter sounds, sight words, CVC blending & segmenting, addition facts, and more, sharing your little learners’ progress with parents/guardians is easy!

As a dedicated Kindergarten teacher for nearly 20 years, I believe the words “fun, play, and creativity” can sit right alongside the words “developmentally appropriate, engaging, and rigorous.” Learning is meant to be fun and messy!
