I used this with my son in our homeschool preschool for some counting practice last November. We both really enjoyed the hands on Decomposing Turkey Craftivity and the game to play with it. Since he isn’t able to use scissors well yet, I cut out each shape while he chopped away at a scrap piece of construction paper. Then we used our homemade game coins and spent time slowly pointing to each colored coin and counting it. This one project alone helped him so much to understand counting individual objects vs reciting numbers in order, because it made it fun. I’ve learned that to keep him engaged, he needs assignments like these where he can amaze me with his counting skills and then hold and glue the item himself. He feels like he did something really big and important! If you are using this one at home, I do recommend having plenty of printer ink on hand because you do need several pages to do this craft. I also used this with 65 pound cardstock that would fit in my printer.
