The kids loved this but it is a lot of prep work for teacher!

This was a great craft to reinforce decomposing the number 10. I used it for an observation with my principal as well and he thought it was great. A few days before the craft we practiced using the bigger one. I laminated it and put magnets on the feathers so we could do it on the board. Then when it was their turn they could do it. It was a lot of cutting for them but we did it over a couple days. It was a great craft around thanksgiving and I’ll definitely use it every year

I have used these resource for 2 years now during our November composing and decomposing numbers math unit. My students were engaged the entire time and were also very creative with how they came up with their problems. I would love to see something similar for teen numbers during the January month.
