20 Fun February Centers for Kindergarten

February might be the shortest month of the year, but it’s packed with fun and learning in the classroom! Between Valentine’s Day, Groundhog Day, Presidents’ Day, and dental health month, there are so many exciting themes to weave into your lessons. These February centers for kindergarten are filled with hands-on, engaging activities that keep your students learning all month long — even when the winter days feel extra long. From sorting digraphs to decoding CVC words and comparing numbers, these low-prep math and literacy centers make it easy to bring a little warmth (and a lot of fun) to your February routine!
Math February Centers for Kindergarten
These ten math February centers for kindergarten include kid-friendly “I Can” visual direction cards, empowering your students to work independently with confidence.
Each center also features a printable response sheet for meaningful follow-up practice, helping reinforce key math skills in a fun, hands-on way.

Valentines Modeling
For this center, students will model numbers 11-20 on a double ten frame. To model each number, they can use any small manipulative, such as pom poms, linking cubes, mini erasers, etc.
Valentines Roll and Graph
Students will roll a die to determine which number to color or trace on the graph at this math center.
Toothy Bonds
For this center, students will determine the missing addend for each number bond (addition within 10).
Toothpaste Addition
At this center, students will be adding within five. Students use the five frame to model the equation with small manipulatives and then match the correct mouthwash cup (sum) to the the toothpaste (equation).
Groundhog Skip Count
For this center, students will skip count to 100 by 5’s or 10’s. Students will say the numbers on each groundhog as they skip count to 100.
Subtracting Groundhogs
At this center, students will decompose the number 10. They will solve the number sentence, using the included ten frame, and then match the correct difference to complete each equation.
Football Subtraction
During this center, students will practice subtraction within five. To model each equation, the number sentence cards include footballs for students to cross off with a dry erase marker or cover with a small maipulative. After modeling each equation, students will match the correct goal post to each number sentence.
Football Comparison
At this center, students will compare two numbers by determining which number is more/less.
Patriotic 3D Shapes
During this center, students will identify and sort real-world objects by 3D shape.
Base Ten with Washington
At this center, students will count base ten blocks for numbers 10-20. Then, they will match the correct numeral to each base ten card.

Sweet Sentences
At this center, student will read 12 decodable sentences containing a mix of sight words, CVC words and CCVC words.
Sweet Shoppe Sounds
At this center, students will substitute the beginning sound to create a new word.
Toothy Sounds
Students will identify the middle sound in CVC words by sorting each tooth to the correct vowel mat.
Brushing Up on CVC Words
Students will decode each CVC word, and then, match the toothbrush to the correct tube of toothpaste.
Groundhog Word Families
This center focuses on the following CVC word families: -an, -et, -in, -on, -ug. Students will sort each flower to the correct word family groundhog mat.
Digging Digraph Dens
Students will sort 24 groundhogs to the correct beginning digraph den.
Football Frenzy
Students will decode each CCVC word, and then, match the football to the correct goal post.
Touchdown Blends
Students will sort -r blend pictures at this football themed center.
Patriotic Words
At this center, students will decode each -r blend CCVC word, and then, match the blue star to the correct red star.
Whitehouse Words
For this center, students will substitute the ending sound to create a new word. Students can use the included letter pieces, magnetic letters, foam letters or letter tiles to fill in the ending sound.
