Play Dough Gift Tags for Back to School Student Gift

It’s almost time for back-to-school! With that comes classroom prep, meet the teacher, first week lessons and back-to-school team and student gifts! One of my favorite back-to-school student gifts is play dough. Since it is non-edible, play dough is a great option for students with allergies/health conditions. It is also a fantastic stress reliever for students on the first day of school. While I’m busy welcoming students and talking with parents, the students can quietly calm their first day jitters by squishing and rolling the play dough on their desk. Plus, it is an excellent tool for building fine motor skills. You can grab the FREE play dough gift tags for these simple back-to-school student gifts below!

I must admit I always get excited, and maybe a little nervous, to meet my new group of students for the first time. I’m sure the students are equally excited and nervous to meet their new teacher and take a peek at their new classroom.
To help ease this anxiety and create a positive first impression, I like to give the students a little back-to-school gift. I usually leave these gifts on each student’s desk on the night of open house / meet the teacher. You could also give them to the students on the first day of school. This year, I’ll be including a cup of play dough inside each student’s individual supply kit.
To create this play dough back-to-school student gift, simply download the FREE gift tags. I’ve included several different options, so be sure to print the tag that works best for your gift. Simply print the gift tags on brightly colored card stock. Then, cut apart each label. If you are using party favor sized Play Doh, you can use double-sided tape to attach the cup to center of the circle.
Otherwise, you can attach the label to a regular-sized cup of Play Doh, like these Crayola Dough cups.
Now, you’ll be ready for meet the teacher night and/or your first day of school! Play dough is such an affordable back-to-school gift idea. Plus, it’s an engaging, easy and quick gift to send home with students.

As a dedicated Kindergarten teacher for nearly 20 years, I believe the words “fun, play, and creativity” can sit right alongside the words “developmentally appropriate, engaging, and rigorous.” Learning is meant to be fun and messy!
