Math Halloween Centers for Kindergarten
There are 6 literacy and 6 math Halloween centers for kindergarten included! Each center features kid-friendly ‘I Can’ visual direction cards to build independence, teacher direction cards for quick and easy setup, and printable response sheets to reinforce learning.
Plus, you’ll get differentiation ideas for every activity, so you can easily adapt each center to support the unique needs of your students.
Here is a sneak peek at the six math Halloween centers for kindergarten!
Batty for Numbers
For this center, students will show three different representations of the number, including ten frame, finger count and tally marks, on the bat cave.
Candy Corn Counting
Students will identify the numbers before and after a given number 2-9.
Spooky Addition
At this center, students will be adding within five. There are ten different equations which have a haunted house for each addend. Students can use this haunted house to model the equation with small manipulatives, such as lima bean ghosts, mini erasers, pom poms, etc.
Pumpkin Patch Ten Frames
For this center, students will model the numbers 1-10 on a ten frame. They can use any small manipulative, such as orange pom poms, mini pumpkin erasers, or small acrylic pumpkins (table scatter), to model the number of pumpkins in the pumpkin patch.
Counting Cauldrons
Students will practice one-to-one counting by placing the correct number of bubbles above each cauldron. Pom poms, mini Halloween erasers, or googly eyes can be used to model the number.
Spider Numbers
For this center, students will trace the numbers 1-10. They will spin the spinner and trace the number with a dry erase marker.
Literacy Halloween Centers for Kindergarten
Along with the six math centers, you’ll also get six engaging Halloween literacy centers for kindergarten. Take a quick peek at each activity below!
Stir the Letters
Students will trace four of each uppercase letter to help the witch get to her cauldron.
Monster Match-Up
For this Halloween center, the students will pair the uppercase and lowercase letters by matching each Frankenstein to the correct haunted house.
Swampy Vowels
Students will sort CVC words based on the middle vowel sound. There are two differentiated versions, one without the supporting word and one with the supporting word.
Trick or Treat Sounds
At this center, students will sort the candy pieces to the correct candy bucket based on the beginning sound of each word.
Candy Corn Syllables
Students will identify the number of syllables 1-3 in each word, during this Halloween center. They will first say the word, clap the word, and then clip the number of syllables with a clothespin.
Spinning Sight Words
Of course, ooey, gooey play dough is a must at Halloween! For this center, students will roll play dough and form the letters on the sight word mat. You can use the 18 sight word mats that are included and/or use the editable version to add your own sight words.
