Get ready to ignite excitement in your classroom as you take your students on a global adventure to explore the rich holiday traditions of sixteen different countries! With these interactive Holidays Around the World activities, your students will be captivated by the multicultural learning experience, as they “board the plane,” eagerly awaiting their next destination. With engaging nonfiction slides and interactive student pages, your kindergarten and first grade students will love discovering the world’s diverse holiday customs!

How to Use the Holidays Around the World Activities in Your Classroom
There are eight holiday celebrations and nine Christmases included in the Holidays Around the World activities pack, for a total of sixteen countries.
Before preparing all of the material, you will want to decide how many holiday traditions you want to explore with your students. You can learn about just the holidays, just the Christmases, or a combination of the two.

Each holiday and Christmas around the world celebration incorporates math, literacy, and social studies, offering just the right amount of information to explore one country per day.
I like to begin our holidays around the world activities right after Thanksgiving and work through a new country each day all the way up to winter break. This typically means, we are able to explore all of the holidays and Christmases… of course, depending on if winter break begins earlier or later.
Holidays Around the World Activities Passport
To help set the stage before embarking on your journey around the world, you will want to have your students create their passports.
There are two covers included for the passport. One has a front cover, while the other has a front and back cover with room for additional stamps.
Choose the cover for the passport based on the number of holidays and countries you plan to visit.

To make the passports, you will want to print the cover and the inside of the passport back-to-back before folding the passport in half to create a booklet.
Once the passports are folded, you will want to have your students color the front cover and fill in the information on the inside of the cover.
You will also want to prep the stamps ahead of time. You can copy the stamps on colored paper or regular copy paper for your students to color.

After they visit a new country, the students will glue that country’s stamp inside their passport.
Holidays Around the World Activities Boarding Passes
In addition to the passports, there are also boarding passes for each country.

Before traveling to a new country, your students will need to fill in the missing information, including passenger name, date and destination. This will be their ticket to board the plane.
Holidays Around the World Activities Travel Map
After they have learned about a country’s holiday traditions, the students will not only add a stamp to their passport, but they will also color that country on their travel map.

This step is completely optional, but it is an excellent way to integrate geography and practice map skills!
Holidays Around the World Activities Nonfiction Slides
Once your students have their passports and first boarding pass ready to go, it will be time to visit their first country. You can visit the countries in any order you prefer, as well as pick and choose the locations that work best for your class!
There are three or four no prep nonfiction slides with real photographs and kid-friendly language for each country. These slides will help students learn about the cultural traditions of that holiday.

Simply project each of the sixty-four slides before completing the interactive student pages.
Holidays Around the World Activities Interactive Student Pages
After learning about each holiday via the nonfiction slides, students will complete the interactive students pages. There are at least three student pages for each country.

Once you have reviewed a slide, have the students complete the matching printable page. Some pages are combined on one slide.

These pages are intended to be interactive, meaning the students will need to complete a task, to help them better retain the information.

These holidays around the world activities not only integrate math, literacy, and social studies, but they are are also great for working on fine motor skills as students are required to cut and glue along the way.
Holidays Around the World Activities Craft
Once you have traveled around the world learning about several holiday traditions and Christmases, it is time to assemble the holidays around the world craft book.
There are two different options for the cover. A “Holidays Around the World” cover and a “Christmas Around the World” cover. Pick the cover based on the traditions you explored with your students.

For the world craft cover, print the outline of the world on blue construction paper or card stock and the pieces for the land on green. You can also print the cover on regular copy paper and have the students color it.
Then, stack the pages and place the cover on the top before stapling the book at the top or along the lefthand edge.

If you do not want your students to cut out each of the pages, simple stack and staple the pages into a book.
At the end of your travel, the students will have a handy world shaped book containing all sorts of facts about the various holidays around the world. This is a great way to check for understanding and anchor their learning!
