Make the end of the year a memorable (and learning-filled) celebration with these ice cream day end of the year escape room activities!
Set the stage with a note from the ice cream shop attendant:
I have a special treat.
Yes, it is true.
But first I need,
Some help from you!
The supplies are lost,
As you can see.
Who has them?
It’s a mystery!
Solve each challenge,
Along the way.
So we can build,
A big sundae!
After the students complete each challenge, they will receive a clue from the culprit. A suspect will be eliminated after each challenge. Once all of the ice cream day centers have been completed, they will have eliminated all but one suspect!
There are 4 math and 4 literacy ice cream theme centers included. Black and white option included. Targeted skills:
- recognizing rhymes
- counting syllables
- identifying digraphs
- isolating medial sounds
- 1:1 counting and subitizing numbers 1-10
- adding fluently within 6

The Challenges:
- Spoon Challenge – Count the syllables for each picture.

This resource was wonderful! Everything ready to go all in one unit, where ALL the centers are good and engaging. We had an ice cream theme day at the end of the year and did center rotations in the morning and had a great time with these centers. Highly recommend!

These escape rooms are such a fun way to engage students at the end of the year!
Duckies in a Row –
Lots of great activities in here and I love the idea of the kids solving the mystery. I’m a little confused about the opening riddle though. It says if we solve the mystery, we are going to build a big sundae, but there isn’t anything in here that allows us to do that and nothing really explains the riddle either. I’m assuming the teachers are meant to have an actual ice cream party with their class?
