Use the cards alone (like the first picture), or with a CVC word slider (like the second picture). Have the students touch the color coded dots and say the sound of each letter. Remind them that green is the beginning sound, yellow is the middle, and red is the ending sound. The color coded letters help with reading left to right. If you are using the CVC word slider, the students will slide one bead for each phoneme. After sliding all three beads and saying all three phonemes, they will push the beads back and say the word. Use the CVC word cards with pictures to provide extra support.

This is a great resource to use for in-class small groups and also one on one tutoring. This gives students the power to sound out words themselves without just looking at the letters. This is a beneficial activity to do with students who have learning disabilities.

This products works great for phonemic practice and can easily be adapted to a visual for spelling cvc words. The colored dots are excellent for segmenting each out, isolating beg, mid, or end sound, or giving students a visual reminder that they need to spell each sound to form the word. Excellent product!
