Description

This “Flipping for Good Behavior” classroom management strategy is exactly as it sounds! Begin with the word flipped upside down, and turn over a letter each time you catch your class exhibiting a positive behavior. If you witness any unwanted behavior, you could always turn a letter back over. Once all of the letters have been turned right side up, the class will claim their whole class reward! Fostering collaboration and classroom community is an effective classroom management strategy that also promotes 21st century skills!

There are 10 seasonal reward days, as well as 12 reward days that can be used anytime throughout the year. Your class will work to spell the following words:

– applesauce, apples, apple cider
– pumpkins
– leaf hunt
– friendship
– gingerbread

– kindness
– bookworm
– jelly beans

I love this system and have added it to my whole brain teaching approach. When they win me on the scoreboard they get to flip over a letter.

  3. Sandy L. –

Very engaging way to introduce the topic. Students enjoyed this activity.

  4. Amy W. –

Oh my goodness! This is the answer to my behavior concerns. The kids are so excited for this reward at the end of the month. I just introduced it, and they are very motivated to earn this as a class. I like that everyone gets to participate (even if they have had an off-day here or there) and they earn it collectively. They are working so hard toward our first reward. So easy to implement!

Incredible whole group incentive to improve classroom behaviors. My kinders loved this.

  8. Cacie Stewart –

Great classroom management reward. I’ve been able to EASILY tailor it to fit my 4th grade environment. The kids enjoy discovering what they’re working towards and like taking guesses on what we might do for the reward. For example, they earned Bubble Day – instead of bubble solution, I did bubble gum (since no gum is a rule, but often broken). We had multiple flavors to test out: which had the best/worst flavor, biggest bubble blown, lasted longer. We made predictions prior, recorded data, looked at results. It was a fun day!

My students are enjoying getting letters turned over to reveal a new word which earns them a class reward. I needed new something to implement to catch their attention after the new year and this is working. I love the variety or words and cards. Thank you!
