With spring in full swing and summer on the horizon, May can bring extra energy to the classroom! These low-prep May centers for kindergarten are an easy way to keep your students engaged, focused, and learning. Whether you use them for centers, morning work, or early finishers, these hands-on spring activities help kinders build key literacy and math skills!
Math May Centers for Kindergarten
These ten math May centers for kindergarten include kid-friendly “I Can” visual direction cards to help your students work independently with confidence. Each center also comes with a printable response sheet for meaningful follow-up practice, reinforcing important math skills in fun and engaging ways.

Spring Shape Patterns
For this first math center, students will extend each pattern using pattern blocks. There are 16 pattern cards, focusing on AB, ABC, ABB, and AAB patterns, included.
Stack and Graph
During this center, students will sort and graph linking cubes by color.
Flower Shape Sort
For this center, students will identify and sort 2D and 3D shapes. After identifying the shape, they will sort each flower to the correct flowerpot.
Planting Sums
With this center, students will add fluently within five. First, they will model the equation using small manipulatives, such as pom-poms, actual seeds, mini erasers, etc., to represent the seeds. Then, students will match the correct plant (sum) to the seed packet (equation).
Subtraction Skunks
At this center, students will model each subtraction problem using pictures. First, they will solve the number sentence by crossing off the correct number of flowers. Then, they will match the correct skunk to complete each equation.
S’more to Make Ten
During this center, students will use a ten frame to make ten. First, students will use manipulatives (pom-poms, foam squares, etc.) to fill in the ten frame on the card. Then, they will fill in the missing addend in the box.
Flashlight Teens
At this center, students will build each flashlight by matching the number, double ten frame, and base ten blocks for the numbers 11-20.
Gone Camping Measurement
For this center, students will measure the height and width of various camping-themed items using a unit of nonstandard measurement.
Batter Up Order
During this center, students will identify the missing number in a sequence. There are four numbers in each sequence, with the numbers extending from 11 to 20.
Baseball Bonds
For this center, students will determine the missing addend for each number bond (addition within 10). If needed, students can place small manipulatives on the baseball as they count up to find the missing number.

Flowery N Blends
At this center, students will identify the missing vowel sound in CVCC words ending with -ng and -nk.
CVC Flower Words
During this CVC center, students will decode 20 CVC words and match the pictures to the words.
Sunny Silent E Words
At this write the room center, students will segment and record CVCe words. There are ten write the room cards included, with two pictures for each vowel.
Planting Floss Words
With this center, students will decode words that follow the floss rule (-ff, -ll, -ss, and -zz).
Splashing R Blend Ducks
During this literacy center, students will sort ducks based on the beginning blend. The center focuses on r-blends (br-, cr-, dr-, fr-, gr-, pr-, and tr-).
Rainbows and L Blends
Students will identify l-blends at this center. There are two versions of the center included. Version 1 has the blends divided into bl/cl/fl and gl/pl/sl. Version 2 has all six blends together.
Camping S Blends
With this center, students will sort words with the blends sk-, sm-, sn-, sp-, st-, and sw-.
S’more Digraphs
At this literacy center, students will decode CCVC and CVCC words containing the digraphs ch, sh, th, and wh.
Rhyming Pitches
During this center, students will identify rhyming words by matching a baseball and baseball glove.
Striking Out Syllables
At this center, students will sort baseball players to the correct baseball diamond based on the number of syllables in the picture.
