April brings springtime energy and new beginnings to the classroom, making it the perfect time for hands-on, engaging activities! These April centers for kindergarten keep students focused and learning while still having fun with the season. Whether you use them for center rotations, morning work, or early finishers, these spring-themed activities help your kinders practice important literacy and math skills in a playful, hands-on way.
Math April Centers for Kindergarten
These ten math April centers for kindergarten include kid-friendly “I Can” visual direction cards to help your students work independently with confidence. Each center also comes with printable response sheets that offer a meaningful follow-up activity, reinforcing key math skills in a fun and engaging way.

Fluttering Teens
At this center, students will use ten frames to find the missing addend for the numbers 11-20. They can place small manipulatives on the empty ten frame to add/count on from ten.
Rainbow Models
In this rainbow themed center, students will model the numbers 11-20 using base ten blocks. Linking cubes can also be used to create a ten rod and individual units.
Springing into Patterns
For this center, students will extend each pattern with the correct spring objects. The 12 pattern mats focus on AB, ABB, AAB, and ABC patterns.
Rainbow Roll and Graph
Students will roll a die to determine which color to shade in on the graph. Alternatively, you can have students use a dry erase marker to trace the number inside each cell. They will continue to roll until one of the columns reaches the top of the graph.
Soggy Subtraction
For this center, students will use a number line to complete each subtraction problem. They can model each equation by using a dry erase marker or manipulatives.
Hopping into Subtraction
At this center, students will model each subtraction problem using pictures. First, they will solve the number sentence by crossing off or covering the correct number of lily pads on the ten frame. Then, they will match the correct frog to complete each equation.
Springtime Addition
For this center, students will use a number line to complete each addition problem. They can model each equation by using a dry erase marker or manipulatives. Once they have found the sum, they will match the correct kite to each equation.
Windy Word Problems
At this center, students will read a decodable word problem containing a mix of sight words, CVC words, blends, and digraphs. Then, they will find the picture that models the equation and write the addition number sentence. There are ten decodable word problems included.
Digging Up Sums
During this center, students will sort addition number sentences by their sum. All 20 addition sentences for sums 0-5 are included.
Buzzing into Measurement
At this center, students will measure the height and width of various bee-themed items using a unit of nonstandard measurement.

At this center, students will read 20 decodable sentences containing a mix of sight words, CVC words, blends, and digraphs.
Planting Spring Sounds
With this word ladder center, students will substitute sounds to create a new CVC word.
Raindrop Words
Students will decode and sort the CVC word raindrops by real words and nonsense words during this CVC words center.
Beehive Words
At this center, students will decode CVCe words. Then, they will match the bee to the beehive with the same picture.
Syllable Snails
For this center, students will sort snails based on the number of syllables in the picture. This center includes 20 snails with 1-4 syllables.
Digraph Ladybugs
Students will decode words with the ending digraph -ck. To complete the center, students will match the ladybug to the leaf with the same picture.
Fluttering Digraphs
During this center, students will sort words with the digraphs ch-, th-, sh-, and wh-.
Planting Nouns and Verbs
Students will sort nouns and verbs during this fun spring planting center. Students will “plant” six noun and verb flowers into the correct flowerpot.
Splashing Words
At this center, students will decode words that follow the floss rule (-ff, -ll, -ss). Then, they will match the boots with the same picture to the puddle.
Spring Planting
For this center, students will decode the words on the dirt cards and plant the carrot with the matching picture into the dirt.
