For the first name activity, students can practice sequencing the letters in their name. They can easily snap the linking cubes together in the correct order to spell their name.

Name Activity #2 – Comparing

Then, they can compare the length of their name to the lengths of their classmates’ names. For this name activity, I have the students walk around the classroom, finding friends who have a longer name, shorter name, and even a name with an equal number of letters.

Next, the students can record the number of letters in their own name compared to the number of letters in their friends names on their recording sheet.

They can note whether their name was shorter or longer than their friend’s name, highlighting how many more or how many fewer.

Plus, the students can check to see if they have any matching letters with a friend.

Name Activity #3 – Counting

For the final name activity, the students can break their name trains apart to count the number of letters, consonants, and vowels.
