Why, hello February! Does anyone else think the months are just flying by?!? I cannot believe that January has already come and gone, but February is one of my favorite months to teach! So many themes… Groundhog’s Day, Valentine’s Day, President’s Day, Dental Health! My friends and I over at The Primary Pack have teamed up once again to bring you another great FREEBIE ebook, but first I’d like to share all sorts of President’s Day activities to help keep your little learners engaged during President’s Day! Keep reading to grab the “Things We Love about February Pack of Freebies,” as well as another President’s Day freebie from me!
Teaching about President’s Day is one of my favorite themes to teach in February… so much so that I’ve already prepped my math and literacy centers, as well as our Abraham and George Washington poems! I wanted to get a head start since I know that this coming week will be busy with our 100th Day celebration and Valentine’s Day party. Here’s a little sneak peek into our math and literacy tubs for President’s Day:

I know my kiddos are going to shout, “Hip, Hip, Hooray, It’s President’s Day!”
Plus, I prepped our poems about Abraham and George Washington! Putting facts to a little jingle always helps my kiddos so much!
Then, we are going to make these fun brochures with the facts we learned in each poem! Take that, Common Core Informational Writing standard!
These are my favorite two poems and extension activities from my I Can Read February Poetry Binder!
Of course, we’ll also read about George and Abe, as well as complete a few graphic organizers and writing activities!
And wait until you see their adorable illustrations of Abe and George… I can’t even! We used our emergent readers to help us write three facts about each president.
You can grab the bubble map and informational writing page for George Washington below!
You can bet we’ll be making a few President’s Day crafts throughout the week too! One of my favorites are these pretzel log cabins. Head on over to this blog post to read all about them!
DON’T FORGET IT… PIN IT!

As a dedicated Kindergarten teacher for nearly 20 years, I believe the words “fun, play, and creativity” can sit right alongside the words “developmentally appropriate, engaging, and rigorous.” Learning is meant to be fun and messy!
