I like the idea of using “The Day the Crayons Quit” to engage students in writing a persuasive letter to the color convincing them not to quit. I thought there would be more graphic organizers that could be used for any type of persuasive writing (other topics than favorite color) but overall it is cute 🙂

My students loved their crayon writing! It was such a cute way to teach opinion and persuasive writing. I did the “Red as Best” writing first with my students and we used the lessons to do opinion writing. Then we talked about persuasive writing for “The Day the Crayons Quit”. It was helpful for the students have the two back to back with a similar topic to see the similarities and differences. I appreciate all of the lesson plans, graphic organizers and activities that go along with the writing craft.
