Literacy Classroom Pool Party Activities:

1. Buckets of Blends – The students will identify beginning s- blends.
2. Diving for Words – The students will decode CVC words.
3. Drinking Digraphs – The students will identify beginning digraphs.
4. Noodle Nonsense – The students will twist pool noodles to create silly decodable sentences.
5. Wave of Words – The students will twist pool noodles to create real and nonsense CVC, CCVC, or CVCC words.
6. Silent E Sunglasses – The students will decode CVCe words.
7. Syllable Splashers – The students will identify syllables 1-4.
8. Splashing Rhymes – The students will recognize words that rhyme.
9. Searching for Sunshine – The students will identify high frequency words.

Math Classroom Pool Party Activities:

1. Beach Ball Bowling – The students will roll a beach ball and complete the subtraction equation to decompose 10.
2. Beach Dice Games – The students will either roll and count on, roll and add, roll and add 1 or roll and subtract 1.
3. Diving for Shapes / Diving for Numbers – The students will identify 2D shapes. The students will subitize with ten frames and trace the matching number.
4. Flipping for 5 or 10 – The students will flip cards to create combinations of 5 or combinations of 10.
5. Pool Noodle Lengths – The students will use linking cubes to measure the length of each pool noodle.
6. Pool Noodle Patterns – The students will use pool noodle pieces to create patterns.
7. Splash Ball Subtraction – The students will throw a splash ball and complete the subtraction equation to decompose 10.
8. Subitizing Swimmers – The students will subitize numbers 0-10 using ten frames, dominoes, and finger counts.
9. Totaling Tubes – The students will throw splash balls into numbered tubes, record the numbers, and write the sum.

Optional Supplies:

I was really intentional about creating activities that would not require an added expense. Almost all of these activities/centers use common classroom supplies.

The pool noodles, inflatable tubes, splash balls, and sensory bin items were purchased from the dollar store.
