Remind them that green is the beginning sound so this card will go first in the puzzle, yellow is the middle sound so this card will go in the middle of the puzzle, and red is the ending sound so it will be the last card in the puzzle. After they have correctly assembled a word, have them touch each letter and say the beginning, middle, and ending sounds.

Green means “go and stretch it out.” Yellow means “say the sounds slowly.” Red means “stop at the end of the word.” The color coded letters help with reading left to right. After saying all three phonemes, they will slide their finger under the letters from left to right and say the word.
