Whether you are a seasoned teacher, first-year teacher or veteran room mom, pulling off a classroom Halloween party that is a balanced combination of magical, educational, healthy, and of course fun, can seem like a difficult feat! Our classroom Halloween party is my favorite party of the whole year! Typically, that involves five/six stations set up with various Halloween games and Halloween crafts. Like with everything else in 2020, traditional classroom Halloween parties and costume parades are going to look a little different. Keep reading for some social distancing Halloween party ideas for the classroom that are sure to keep your little goblins engaged and your party well-managed!

NO CONTACT CLASSROOM HALLOWEEN PARTY GAMES
No classroom Halloween party is complete without a few fun games! Put a Halloween spin on some of your favorite independent games, and you have a surefire, no contact way to maximize engagement.
Bingo is a tried and true game that kids of all ages enjoy. It’s a great way to review a multitude of skills, including the alphabet, numbers, shapes, colors, sight words, CVC words, rhyming, math facts, time, fractions and more. Create your own DIY game board, and have your students fill in the boxes.
This Spooky Words bingo game adds just enough magic for the kiddos to forget that they are learning. Make it more festive by using themed manipulatives (spiders, mini erasers, candy corn, etc.) to cover each space.
This Creepy Charades game would make a great brain break in between activities. Choose one student at a time to act out the card. Then, the class will try to guess the action. Once they have guessed correctly, the entire class can complete the motion (while staying safely distanced).
Another no contact option are these spider games. For the Spider Web Master game, the kiddos will roll a die and cover/remove 20 spiders. For the Spider Race game, they will roll a die and race to the number 20 on the spider web. Add some spider rings or mini erasers for a spooky holiday touch!
HALLOWEEN CRAFTS
Crafts are another great addition to your classroom Halloween party. This monster glyph craft might be one of my favorites, but I have a whole list of super simple Halloween crafts here!
DIRECTED DRAWINGS
Directed drawings are a low-prep activity that you can incorporate into your Halloween festivities. All you need are a piece of paper and a drawing utensil. Not only are the kiddos practicing their fine motor control, but they are also practicing their listening skills. This Frankenstein direct drawing by Proud to Be Primary is adorable!
PUMPKIN INVESTIGATION

HALLOWEEN SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS
Science experiments are a crowd favorite! Talk about an instantly engaging classroom Halloween party idea!
For this Spooky Ghost experiment, just draw a ghost face on a white balloon. Pour a ½ cup of vinegar into an empty water bottle. Fill the balloon with 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Place the end of the balloon around the top of the water bottle. Then, gently lift the balloon upright so that the baking soda falls into the vinegar. The reaction will produce carbon dioxide, which causes the balloon to inflate. Please be aware that too much pressure could cause the balloon to explode in a loud pop.
For the Flying Ghost experiment, blow up a white balloon and pinch the end closed with a binder clip. Draw a ghost face on the balloon. Secure a straw to the back of the balloon using tape. Thread a good 15 feet of string through the straw. Tie the ends of the string to two chairs. Slide the chairs apart so the string is taut. Remove the binder clip, and watch the ghost fly through the air!

GHOSTLY GAK HALLOWEEN SLIME
My students’ slime obsession is real! If you can’t beat them, you might as well join them! Making slime at our classroom parties actually began with the creation of super easy Snowman Slime at our holiday party. Of course, I had to include this Ghostly Gak recipe as one of our classroom Halloween party stations.
HALLOWEEN READ ALOUDS
There are so many great books to read at Halloween… monsters, spiders, ghosts, bats and pumpkins are all topics that excite my students. Here’s a look at some of my favorites.
BOOK STUDY
Perhaps, you want to choose just one Halloween book to complete an in-depth book study. “Room on the Broom” is one of my favorite books to read at Halloween. Even though it doesn’t mention Halloween, it is a great way to celebrate the changing season and holiday.
If you’ve never read the book, “the witch and her cat are happily flying through the sky on a broomstick when the wind picks up and blows away the witch’s hat, then her bow, and then her wand! Luckily, three helpful animals find the missing items, and all they want in return is a ride on the broom.”
CLASSROOM HALLOWEEN PARTY MOVIE IDEAS

GLOW IN THE DARK MONSTER MASH DANCE PARTY
Give your students a glow stick, turn off the lights, play some spooky Halloween music and watch your little monsters mash!
HALLOWEEN PLAY DOUGH KITS
Keep those little hands busy with play dough! Simply fill a baggie with some Halloween play dough mats and loose parts, including pipe cleaners, pom poms, pony beads, paper straws and googly eyes. Then, the kiddos can let their imaginations run wild as they build each design. When they are finished, they can take their baggies home… a little Halloween gift from you!
CLASSROOM HALLOWEEN PARTY SNACK IDEAS
I always like to end my party with a Halloween snack or two. During our Halloween classroom party, the students will make a monster cookie. When the station rounds are complete, we’ll eat our cookies and other Halloween snacks (while watching one of the movies mentioned above).
You could also try having them make one of these easy Halloween treats.
